Hi, I’m Aryn Gibson—a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), educator, mom of three boys (one living in Heaven), military veteran, and passionate advocate for women’s health from first period to post-menopause.
My mission? To make evidence-based, compassionate, integrative care accessible to every woman—and to bring honesty, humor, and heart back into healthcare.
From the ER to Midwifery: Where It All Began
My healthcare story started in the Emergency Department, where chaos and teamwork ruled the day. I thrived in that environment but quickly noticed how often women came in needing more than treatment—they needed to be heard.
That realization led me to train as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). It taught me how essential it is to combine medical skills and empathy. It also opened up my eyes to the real problems and obstacles women go through in this world.
Serving as a Veteran: Seeing Inequality Up Close
Before becoming a midwife, I also served for 7 years in the Army National Guard. My time in the military revealed another side of women’s health—one that many people don’t see. I witnessed firsthand how inequalities among women can appear not only in healthcare access but also in recognition, leadership, and basic dignity.
Women in uniform face unique challenges—balancing service with motherhood, navigating reproductive healthcare in limited systems, and sometimes fighting twice: once for their country and once for their right to adequate care.
Those experiences gave me a deeper understanding of how social structures—and policies—shape women’s health. They strengthened my commitment to advocate for equity, inclusion, and justice both inside and outside the clinical setting.
It’s one thing to treat illness; it’s another to fight the internal systems that create inequity. My time in the Army taught me to do both.
My Introduction to Motherhood (and Its Lessons)
When I became pregnant with my first son, I was completely captivated by the miracle of it all—how the body intuitively knows what to do, how life grows from almost nothing, and how birth can be both powerful and sacred.
That awe became my inspiration to pursue midwifery.
But life wasn’t done teaching me yet.
Loss, Healing, and Redefining Purpose
During my second pregnancy, things didn’t go as planned. Complications became our daily normal, and eventually, we faced the heartbreaking loss of our baby boy at 10 weeks old.
That experience changed everything.
Grief broke me open and rebuilt me with deeper compassion. I learned what it really means to walk beside someone through fear, devastation, and eventual healing.
After the loss of my son, I stepped back from midwifery school. How could I be there for someone in the midst of a loss, witness infant resuscitation, attend the births of sleeping babies, and relive these moments potentially over and over again? After much needed time off (and therapy), I knew what I needed to do.
Becoming a Midwife: The Beautiful, Messy Middle
That loss didn’t end my path—it redefined it. It gave me a purpose far greater than I’d ever imagined: to care for women not just in health, but also in heartbreak.
Fast forward to the end of midwifery school—long nights, endless coffee, and dreams of the perfect plan for my career. I got licensed, ready to jump right into my “forever job.” But (you guessed it) life had other ideas.
In the midst of career uncertainty, I found myself expecting again. My third son arrived earthside in a birth that was redemptive and healing—a full-circle moment that reminded me why I do what I do.
Then came another twist: the job I’d planned on fell through. But what looked like disappointment turned out to be divine redirection.
God had bigger, better plans.
During maternity leave, our family packed up and moved across the state of Pennsylvania. We landed in a community that felt meant for us—where I found the perfect midwifery position and a fresh start surrounded by nature and opportunity.
Sometimes, life’s detours aren’t setbacks—they’re sacred reroutes.
Why Preventative and Integrative Care Matters
As a midwife, I believe in whole-person care—looking beyond symptoms to address the physical, emotional, and environmental roots of health.
My approach blends modern evidence-based medicine with integrative practices, empowering women to partner in their care and make informed decisions.
Whether you’re navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, or hormonal changes, my goal is to help you understand your body and trust its wisdom.
Because the more women understand their health, the stronger and more confident they become.
The Reality of Maternal Health in America
The United States is facing a maternal health crisis. As of 2024, the maternal mortality rate was approximately 22 deaths per 100,000 live births—and even higher for Black and Indigenous women, who face systemic barriers to care.
These numbers are far more than statistics—they’re stories of families forever changed. And many of these tragedies are preventable.
Midwifery care has consistently been linked to lower intervention rates, improved outcomes, and higher satisfaction. By focusing on relationship-based, continuous, and evidence-informed care, midwives play a key role in reversing this crisis and improving maternal and fetal outcomes nationwide.
Inclusion, Equity, and Truly Listening
Every woman deserves to feel seen, respected, and safe in her healthcare.
As a midwife, I believe diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility aren’t optional—they’re foundational.
Listening to women’s stories, honoring their experiences, and embracing diverse identities are all vital steps toward equity. Because healthcare should never be one-size-fits-all.
Why Evidence-Based Care (and Truth) Matter
Let’s be honest—between social media “experts” and Google search spirals, misinformation about pregnancy, birth, and women’s health spreads faster than ever.
I’m here to change that.
As a clinician guided by research, I focus on evidence-based care—helping women understand what’s actually supported by science, what’s misinformation, and what options align with their values.
I like to say: I’m here to translate the medical jargon into human language (and maybe make you laugh a little along the way).
Closing the Gap Between Confusion and Confidence
So much of women’s health today is wrapped in fear, confusion, and outdated advice. My mission—through this blog and my practice—is to bridge that gap.
I want women to feel informed and empowered with clear, compassionate, and evidence-backed guidance.
If you’ve ever Googled a symptom at 2 a.m. or walked out of a doctor’s office with more questions than answers—welcome. You’ve found your space.
A New Chapter and an Open Invitation
Through my journey as a nurse, veteran, mom, and midwife shaped by both love and loss, I’ve learned this: purpose rarely unfolds perfectly, but it always unfolds beautifully.
I’m here to share what I’ve learned—through science, experience, and faith—and to remind every woman that her health story matters.
So, grab a cup of tea (or let’s be real, the coffee you reheated three times) and join me as we explore pregnancy, women’s health, wellness, and real-life womanhood—without the filter and fluff.
Welcome to my virtual home. I’m so glad you’re here.
